HISTORISCH

... the trains, for which my father and grandfather posed in the historical photos, have caused a digital quest: i wanted an dutch-indies or indonesian locomotive anyway ... old-fashioned steam or modern diesel ...
both in model and sim asset i have not yet succeeded ... at least not in the quality for which i want to go ...
on a modelrailroad forum i met an avid collector who, out of necessity, started making steam locomotives himself ... he had built up an entire archive with a lot of footage from the dutch-indies ... he even had a factory plate and construction drawings and a manual of grandfather's locomotive : SS1215 ..... a mallet ... an alco ...
a 1DD loc of the staatsspoorwegen on java ...

... pap's loc, the 1401 is a locomotive from the D series, became D14 in indonesia ... the series consisted of 24 locomotives: SS1401-1424 ... hanomag built the locomotives 1401-1412 in 1921 and werkspoor built the locomotives 1413-1424 in 1922 ... all locomotives survived WWII and are numbered by the pnka into the series D1401-1424 .. the last locomotive of this series present was still shunting in Bandung in 1979 ... (info: eelco storm)

... in an old recovered family album i found a beautiful loc pic ... most likely taken by my grandfather ...
(SS)906 = 2-8-0, built by Hanomag (Hannoversche Machinenfabrik AG) in 1914 with factory nr 7158 ...
final nr D5006 : ".. renumbering is for the account of the Japanese, who placed all locomotives of all companies in a uniform (Japanese) numbering system .. the letter before the locomotive number stands for the number of axles .. after 1945 the numbering system was taken over by Het Verenigd Spoorbedrijf / Staatsspoorwegen and after 1949 it was also used by the PNKA .. the photo may have been taken in Purwakarta, before 1939 ... these locomotives were then rebuilt and provided with smoke deflectors, among other things .."

TRACKFINDER

... in my quest for finding the history of the railroads and their rolling stock in the dutch-indies i found very nice stuff on internet ... the annual figures in front of the name of the links i use for a logical order ... maybe it is an aid in your own search to your "tracks" ...
